Thinking about moving to Windows 8.1? or maybe you already made the switch and still can't get used to its new user interface. Well if you want to get the most out of your windows 8.1 system I just found a pretty cool way to do it WITHOUT having to go buy a touchscreen monitor. Logitech has come out with a touchpad (similar to what apple has for the iMac) that you can use to swipe between screens and navigate through windows 8 more easily. I recently build my computer and put windows 8.1 on it just because I like to become familiar with the latest technology but I am using a regular keyboard and mouse. I still like Windows 8.1 a lot so far. The only thing I don't really like is the lack of applications in the Windows store but that will change once more get added. Otherwise its pretty much like a PC/Big tablet that I can use for anything.
interested in the touchpad? read more here: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/touchpad-t650
I too have windows 8.1 however I have yet to configure it to my liking (to start in desktop mode). I had been debating on whether to get a tablet or something just to get used to how the whole "touch" thing works however now I don't really have to.
ReplyDeleteThe Logitech touchpad seems just the right tool to allow me to get my feet wet with touchscreen technology without needing to purchase another PC or tablet just for that purpose since I already have three and my husband has two.
You can configure windows 8.1 to go into desktop mode by downloading a piece of software called classic shell. Once you download that and you go through the settings there is an option to "skip the metro screen". Its in bold you cant miss it. That will allow you to go straight to your desktop that looks just like in windows 7
ReplyDeleteI use a MacBook Pro but this semester had to install VMware to run Windows on my MacBook for another class. At first I installed Windows 8.1 and I tried and tried to get use it and use it. However I just couldn't as I think I am just too accustom to Windows 7 at work so I uninstalled it and installed Windows 7 instead. If I was a PC only user however, this would be helpful to know about. :)
ReplyDeleteThe game between Apple and Microsoft keeps ragging on.
ReplyDeleteI really like the windows 8 operating system but am tempted to stick with OS due to its high resolution or pixels.
